Hi, I’m Sarah Elwood—a counsellor based in Melbourne. I help thoughtful, busy people who look “fine” on the outside but feel stretched thin on the inside. Together, we’ll slow things down, make sense of what’s happening, and find steady ways forward.

About me

If you’re here, something’s heavy. Maybe you’re anxious, exhausted, or just tired of being the “together one.” I get it.

Before counselling, I spent years in the corporate world of People & Culture, supporting leaders and teams through change, conflict, and burnout. I loved the people part—and I saw how many of us are struggling.

That’s why I retrained in counselling and now work with individuals 1:1.

How I work: calm, kind, curious—and practical. I won’t talk at you or give cookie‑cutter advice. We’ll build something that actually fits your life.

I hold a Diploma of Counselling, am qualified in Mental Health First Aid, and participate in ongoing professional develepment with a particular interest in schema informed therapy.

How does it work

We start from wherever you are.

We go at your pace. Some sessions are “talk it out,” some are skill‑building.

We use what works. Schema‑informed therapy (patterns from old wounds), CBT tools (new thoughts, new behaviours), and emotion‑focused work (feeling safe to feel; tougher than it sounds) and somatic release.

What that looks like:

Naming your patterns without shame

Learning nervous‑system calming skills

Practising real‑life conversations (so they feel less scary)

Small changes that add up (the kind you actually keep)

Is therapy awkward? Sometimes. Is it worth it? Yes.
